Seabourn Ovation: first steel cutting ceremony

Seabourn Ovation At the Fincantieri’s Sestri Ponente shipyard, in the presence of Richard Meadows, president of Seabourn, and Raffaele Davassi, director of the shipyard, has been held the ceremony of the first steel cutting of the second of two super-luxury cruise ships Fincantieri is building for the shipping company Seabourn, a brand of Carnival Corporation.
The sister ship, “Seabourn Encore”, is currently being built at the Marghera shipyard and will be delivered later this year. “Seabourn Ovation”, which will become part of the Seabourn fleet in spring 2018, will be built in accordance with the features and cutting-edge technical solutions that make the Seabourn one of the most prestigious brand in the super-luxury segment.

The unit, like her sister ship, will have approximately 41,000 gross tons, will be about 210 meters long, 28 wide and can reach a cruising speed of 18.6 knots. It can also accommodate just 600 passengers aboard, in spacious double suites all with private balconies. Fincantieri has built since 1990 73 cruise ships, 61 of which for different brands of Carnival, while another 22 units are under construction or about to be built in the factories of the group, of which 10 shipping companies of the US group.
