MSC Seaside floted out at Fincantieri shipyard

MSC Seaside MSC Cruises and Fincantieri celebrated today at the shipyard in Monfalcone the “float out” of  MSC Seaside. This is the first of the two new generation mega-ships will enter service between June and December 2017. MSc Seaside is a  central pillar in the MSC Cruises business plan of 9 billion euro  which includes the construction of 11 ships that will come into service between 2017 and 2026. The investment for the construction of MSC Seaside is up to 700 million euro and has involved more than 2,000 people a month between direct and indirect workers of Fincantieri operating from May 2014 and which will continue at least until 2018 for the construction of the second ship Seaside class, MSc Seaview. Other 1,300 workers have been utilized in the peak months. With the use of more than 10 million hours of work, Fincantieri will deliver to MSC Cruises a jewel entirely inspired by the Mediterranean style. Between MSC Cruises and Fincantieri there’s a long-standing partnership, which also covers maintenance and refitting on the MSC fleet ships and the “Program Renaissance” engineering worth 200 million euro, accomplished in the Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo, which involved the lengthening of four ships already on duty. Including the construction of new ships, it is estimated that the total economic impact generated in Italy in 2016 from around the MSC Group is approximately 5 billion euro, ie more ‘than 4% of the Blue Economy production in Italy whose direct fallout today is worth around 123 billion euro. 323 meters long and with a gross tonnage of 154,000 tons, the ship will accommodate 5,179 guests: MSc Seaside is the most largest cruise ship ever built in Italy and is the first of two sister ships of the new generation (plus a third option) whose construction has been entrusted to Fincantieri.
